A sell tagged exercise came with an option exercise in the same filing: compensation being cashed out, often on a pre-set plan. A plain sell is stock the insider already held and chose to sell.
Insiders sell for many reasons — taxes, diversification, a house. They generally buy for one. Purchases by operating executives tend to carry more meaning than purchases by funds already holding 10%.
